| Starfleet Cross |
 |
The Starfleet Cross is the highest accolade which can be awarded by Starfleet
Command. The Starfleet Cross is awarded to an individual who has distinguished
themselves through acts of extraordinary heroism while engaged in an action
against an enemy and in defense of the United Federation of Planets. The
heroism and actions must have been notable and have involved extraordinary
risk of life; where the failure of said actions would have resulted in serious
ramifications against a Federation member world or the Federation itself.
The Starfleet Cross is presented by the Commander in Chief of Starfleet,
and is usually awarded posthumously. |
| Gold Star |
 |

all expectation of duty. Most Gold Stars are awarded posthumously. |
| Silver Star |
 |
The second highest valor award is the Silver Star. Given for heroic actions
at the risk of life beyond the requirements of duty, the omission of which
actions would not normally result in criticism.

| Bronze Star |
 |
The next valor award is the Bronze Star. Which is awarded for a single
act of heroism at risk to one's own life. This is the highest valor award
that can be given in a non-combat incident |

service rendered specifically on behalf of the Federation. It may also be
awarded for acts of heroism which do not meet the requirements for award
of the Legion of Merit medal. |
