Dominium Starleague

The Star League is a collection of individual Houses; there is a hereditary Emperor who is basically the head of the most powerful house. The heads of the other Houses hold Ranks which approximate that of Feudal Society. Each House makes its own laws and enforces them within their Spacial Holdings. There are no independant planetary governments within any declared House space.

The overall society of the League is a Feudal one. So if you aren't Nobility or a powerful merchant you are effectively nobody. Each planet (or group of planets) is under the control of a Baron, or Marquis.

There are six distinct Classes within the League; Nobility, Warriors, Merchants, The Ben Gezerette, Citizens and Non-Citizens.

The Star League is made up of approximately 85% Human or Humanoid.

The Navigators Guild is very powerful in the League, and every interstellar ship within the Leagues borders will have at least one navigator on board.

Duke
The highest grade of Imperial Nobility, held by only a handful of the Inner Provinces.
Count
Second only to a Duke, this title reflects a holding of considerable power and scope.
Viscount
Relatively rare, the term Viscount indicates a sizeable holding, though lacks the prestige of a Count. More recent additions to the Imperial fold have sometimes been assigned this title.
Baron
The lowest "landed" Major House title, baronies proliferate along the inner Provincial fringes.
Lord
Somewhat indistinct, this title is often used to designate Frontier Provincial rulers.
Thain
A catch-all title usually applied to leaders of Minor Clans.
Banneret
This social rank is bestowed upon warriors who have distinguished themselves in battle through bravery and leadership.
Merchant
Citizen
Citizens of the Starleague have more rights than Serfs and can call upon the courts and Lords for justice.
Serf
A majority of the population live and work to provide for their lords, basically in a labor intensive role.
Thrall
Planets which have been subjugated by the Starleague and have not yet been accepted as citizens. Or, individuals who have been sold into indentured servitude as well as criminals.
